I have looked everywhere for a good adoption announcement, but they all seem to be fore babies or for international adoption. After 3 1/2 years, my husband and I are finally adopting our son who has been with us since birth. So, it seems kind of ridiculous to have "Arrived" when he arrived over three years before adoption, and "From Where" when he was born one county over! I have been to AdoptionShop which used to have customizables - but don't see that option anymore. Any suggestions?

Each of my two sons arrived at my home as foster placements. Ironically, they were each 2 1/2 years old at the time of arrival - just arrived four years apart. My oldest son's adoption was when he was four. To announce his adoption, we created a photo postcard - like the one's you get at Christmas. There was a picture of the two of us and the wording said,
Announcing the adoption of (Child's Name)!
Birthdate:
Adoption Finalized:
With my youngest son, we created a card with a picture of the two boys that said,
(Older's sons name) has a brother forever!
Birthdate:
Adoption Finalized:
I have two cousins that were adopted at birth. My aunt and uncle also did photo announcements that included, "Birthdate," and "Placed in our arms."
Be creative and make something that really fits your family. Photocards can either be made on your home computer or at places like Walgreens, Staples, Office Depot, etc.

We used a home-made type announcement saying
He came into our lives,
Straight to our hearts,
And now we're forever a family!
Then we put a picture of the three of us on the card
I'm working on our adoption announcements in between typing this. We are in the final days of adopting our foster sons (siblings) ages 3 & 7 who have been in our home since July 2002. I too had such a difficult time finding an appropriate announcement so I made them.
I found a blue stripped paper from a scrapbook store, purchased vellum paper (see through stuff) and made color copies of a recent picture of the boys.
I glued the photo on the blue paper, printed on the vellum paper the following, and then attached them together at the top with a small piece of ribbon. They really turned out great.
With joy in our hearts
We are pleased to announce
the adoption of
7 yr old's name
and
3 yr old's name
Captured our hearts: July 18,2002
Adoption Finalized: May 10,2003

When the adoption of my 3 children was final, I made a flyer on our computer. It included all of the kid's information and a poem that I wrote, "Some of my children grew in my womb and some of them grew in my heart, but now that we're a family, I can't tell them apart". I adopted 3 children, all from different families, but all the adoptions were final within a year of each other. I just waited until they were all final and did them all at once.
ha ha ha....i just thought of something funny, when our first son entered our house, he is 5 yrs old.
a friend of ours wanted to give us some sort of small surprise 'baby shower', just to help us out with stuff we might need. he was just inviting our real close friends and family
he couldnt find any adoption cards, so he just used a regular birth one, it ended up being so funny...
height/ weight/ etc.
he said, "well, he is new to you"............anyway, after the surprise, we saw the new born announcements......it was funny.....sometimes, life doesnt have to be so serious i guess.....but i do agree, you might want to make your own, its more personnal anyway..
