My husband and myself need some help...we are in need of some expert guidance, so I decided to try here. A brief background on me...I am adopted, and am actually starting a search for my birthmother soon. (For no reason other than simple curiosity) I have had several health issues over the past 15 years, which I will not get into at this time, for they would take up to much of your time to read....if you want to know, just ask and I will gladly share! Anyway, b/c of my health, I was told I could never have children...which was ok with us...we would simply adopt. To our great surprise, last March, I became pregnant...through a rollercoaster of 4 months (the babies health and mine) I unfortunately suffered a miscarriage. We were devestated to say the least!. After the D&E, I did not get my period back, I was told I was in early menopause once again. (I had been told this 3 times prior) Well...in January, I got my period back again, and once again 18 days after. We tried all the ovulation kits..to no avail...They always came back negatgive. We have basically given up on me getting pregnant...it is just getting to be way to hard, and I find myself greatly depressed. Well, my question is..(FINALLY...) we are looking into different means of adoption..someone suggested getting an 800 # and advertising in various newspapers..I am just curious if this is a good suggestion..I don't think we could live through much more sadness and disappointment. We need help and advice, I want to start the process and want to know where to begin. Any help would be most appreciated. I am sorry this is such a long post, but I wanted to be clear about our issues. Thank you in advance for your kind help.
I am terribly sorry for your loss. You and your husband might try the chat room here. There are some very kind and supportive people who will be able to advise you. I don't think putting an advertisement in the paper is a good idea - some people have been cheated and tricked in the past. Sorry I don't have any help for you, I have never been in your situation, but I am sure you can find help here.
Good luck

karis,
From my own experience with adoption as an adoptive parent, I would strongly advise you to seek an agency that seeks to serve all parties fully. The agency we are working with does special needs placements through the state as well as infant adoptions. They provide a huge variety of services and counseling to birthmoms considering an adoption plan and if she does choose to do that, they provide longterm post-adoption services to help her deal with her emotions. If she doesn't, they assist with parenting needs. They also provide foster care, residential care and counseling to children in crisis. They provide extensive training and counseling pre and post adoption for all members of the adoption ring.
I would be very cautious about 800 numbers and internet postings as they seem to be very vulnerable to dishonest practices.
