Hi, we know a couple that did adopt from the Pima-Maricopa Native American Reservation here in Scottsdle, AZ They did have a connection. Does anyone know if it is difficult to foster/adopt a Native American child?
It is very difficult in most cases unless you have some tribe affiliation. It does happen sometimes with tribal approval.

Since my husband is part Indian we are very willing to adopt a Native American. However we have also found that the tribe of the birth mother can have a say in who adopts the baby. Some tribes will not let a member of a certain tribe adopt that baby. And some tribes will only let other Native Americans adopt them. It all depends on what tribe they are from. Good luck in your search.
We adopted a baby girl from the Gila Indian Tribe, the mom lived in Casa grand at the time, so the tribe could not stop it. ( Well they might have tried if they knew, but...) Right now the birth mother has another baby boy she is willing to give up, but Since she is now living on the reservation, the Catholic Social Services lawyers say our chances are very slim since the tribe has the last word. Somebody down this thread said they where half indian, maybe they would have a chance?? Please contact us. Thanks
