Johnny, or JJ as he prefers, is a shining example of a resilient teen who has done a lot of hard work to recognize and deal with his past trauma, in an effort to move forward and forge an amazing life for himself!
Those who really know JJ well are quick to say how sweet and caring he is. JJ describes himself as loyal and hardworking and he loves doing things to help people when he can, especially when it comes to things like doing community service projects. JJ is excited about becoming part of a permanent family, not only because they will love and support him, but because he will get to do those same things for them in return. He’s looking forward to helping to BBQ steaks or ribs for family dinners and going on family trips like camping, or maybe to an amusement park. Most of all, JJ dreams of the normalcy involved in being part of a family again…things like having help with homework, someone you can trust to talk to during rough times and having someone who will hold him accountable in a loving way that will prepare him to grow into the type of man he hopes to become.
When it comes to things you may have in common, JJ has so many interests that you’re sure to find a way to connect! He has a real passion for working on cars and plans to initially work at an auto parts store so that he can gain knowledge, and then become a certified mechanic. This outgoing young man also loves nature, particularly hiking in the mountains and swimming at the lake. He recently went on a class trip where they hiked back into a waterfall and thought that was so much fun! JJ likes to stay active and enjoys several sports, including basketball and football. He’d also love to learn more about the sport of boxing. JJ loves to read; listen to music; and write lyrics of his own to express himself. He’s also a very gifted sketch artist! If you love to travel, this is the teen for you! JJ describes his ’Dream Day’ as “laying on a beach in a hammock, preferably in Dubai, enjoying a fruity drink with a little umbrella in it!” #Goals!!
JJ and his Permanency Team are open to families of any type of make-up and may also be interested in out of state families if it was a great fit for him! JJ has a special Aunt, as well as some cousins who are really important to him. He needs a family who understands the importance of birth family relationships, particularly for older youth, and is willing to support those ongoing connections.
Teens like JJ can bring so much laughter and joy to a family!! If you have what it takes to provide the love, support, structure and commitment that JJ deserves and you can envision yourself sipping those fruity drinks together on a beach somewhere someday, inquire about JJ today and let’s find out if your family may be the right one for him!
