Jeremiah from Texas

Jeremiah, who frequently goes by J, is an active little boy that loves to run and play. His favorite toys to play with are cars and he also enjoys larger sensory toys to stimulate his senses. He is a very observant child and pays attention to his surroundings. J sometimes tries to imitate cleaning with a vacuum and broom. He enjoys attending church every week with his caregivers and likes traveling and going on trips. He enjoys taking walks outside and going to the playground where he can run and be active. J prefers quiet, calm environments in which he can play with his toys alone. He is diagnosed with Autism and MCADD (Medium-Chain acyl-coenzyme A dehydrogenase deficiency) disorder. J is a healthy child outside of this diagnosis. He is nonverbal, but he does not let that stop him. He can communicate his wants and needs through sign language. J is a determined little boy and participates in learning how to communicate more effectively with words. He enjoys being read to by his caregivers. He also likes listening to nursery rhymes, his favorite is Old MacDonald, and at times he tries to imitate the melody. J enjoys playing independently with his toys, but he also likes to sit back and watch others play and people-watching.

Jeremiah's forever family will be one that is willing to work through his needs and can care for a nonverbal child on the autism spectrum. His family will be patient and understanding. Jeremiah would do well in a home that can communicate with him through sign language and can work with him on daily life skills. It would be beneficial for Jeremiah's family to help him maintain a healthy diet to help control any medical issues related to his medium-chain acyl-coenzyme a dehydrogenase deficiency disorder. His family should be willing to learn about his medical issue and take appropriate steps to care for him. His family will be an attentive and caring family. He would benefit from being the only child in the home or the youngest child in the home.
