Kiara from Texas

Kiara is a loving little girl who likes to play dress up and play with her dolls. Kiara loves anything with sparkles. She also wants to someday play soccer or other extracurricular activities or sports if given the opportunity. Kiara enjoys meeting new people and when she meets new people, she is very polite and sweet. Kiara likes to help cook and enjoys playing board games and being included as part of a family unit. Kiara enjoys school and enjoys playing with her peers. She is learning more skills to enable her to connect and socialize with her peers. Kiara loves to play outside and do outside activities, especially during the summer. Kiara likes to know what is happening and does well when she is informed of events that are to come.

Kiara and Kamari have a close bond and love being together. They play well together and are learning to communicate their feelings when they don't agree. Kiara loves and looks up to her older brother Kamari and at times will mimic his behavior. Kiara is always laughing at Kamari's jokes and wants to do whatever he is doing. Kiara is into dolls and dress up while Kamari is into sports and the outdoors. Kamari and Kiara do very well when caregivers are around to provide guidance during all activities. Kamari has a close bond to his sister Kiara and acts protectively towards her at times. Kamari and Kiara have a relationship that has strengthened over time. When asked, both children state that no matter what, they want to stay together.

Kiara's forever family will be one that has patience, and will be able to provide stability, guidance and structure. She excels in a well-structured home where behavioral expectations are clear, concrete, consistent, and where behavioral interventions are applied predictably. The home would need to allow Kiara to develop skills that might contribute to positive self-image, enhanced self-esteem, and offer opportunity to develop prosocial peer relationships.
