Active Reunion Registry: A type of reunion registry, which does not require both parties to first register their consent to possible contact or the exchange of information, before a search or attempt to locate them takes place. Once one party is registered in the registry, a confidential intermediary, which is usually an employee of an agency or a court representative, is assigned to contact the persons who are being sought, to ascertain what their wishes are with respect to the release of information about them to the party that is trying to find them.
