Marcia Wallace is from Creston, Iowa. She was a part of "The Fourth Wall" improvisational comedy group who performed off-Broadway before being signed for The Bob Newhart Show. Wallace is best known for her roles as "Carol Kester Bondurant" on the 1972 television series and as the voice of "Mrs. Edna Krabappel" on the animated series The Simpsons. In 1985, Wallace was diagnosed with breast cancer.
She was also the caregiver to her husband (1986 – 1992), Dennis Hawley, who had pancreatic cancer and died June 1992. The couple adopted their son, Michael in 1988.
