Susan Ruttan, born Susan Dunsrud, was adopted by her paternal grandmother at the age of 12, after her parents’ divorce.

Her first husband died young in the early 1970s, and she is divorced from her second.

Ruttan is best known for hercharacter, Roxanne, the long-suffering secretaryon TV's "L.A. Law." She received several Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for that role.
