My son is 2 years & 5 months old, and he is showing most of the readiness signs: Says pee pee when he pees in his diaper, interested in watching us go potty, asking to sit on the potty, etc. So, I bought him some beginner training pants and started today. I had him train a doll how to go potty, and he LOVED it. We had a big potty party, complete w/confetti, each time the doll went potty, and he was so into it. I also gave him a potty book of trucks that he LOVES that he can only read on the potty.
We spent the whole day working on potty training, and he will not pee in the potty. He doesn't mind sitting on the potty for anywhere from 5-30 minutes, but he will not pee. Then, as soon as I put his underwear on him (which he is VERY into), he pees in the underwear. He is not upset about the potty training. He is happy and laughing. When I ask him if he wants to pee pee in the potty, he giggles and makes pee pee noises while pointing his penis into the potty. But he just won't pee in it.
Is this normal beginner behavior, or is he just not ready to toilet train. Perhaps I was expecting too much, but I really thought that he would tinkle at least one time after a full day. (I had to launder SEVEN pairs of underwear today.)
Any advice?

I'll try to direct you to a thread already begun on this topic! Go to: parenting>general parenting>toddlers and pre-schoolers. There you will find a thread called potty training. I just checked, and it seemed to be near the top of the list. You'll find lots of suggestions there already! I hope you find it easily.
