About Us – How we met
We met in New York City, shortly after graduating college at a party hosted by Liza’s co-worker Geoffrey and Charlie’s college friend. We connected over living in New York City and working in investment banking, and soon found ourselves looking for excuses to run into each other. We began to date and have been happily together ever since. As Charlie was getting ready to move to California to begin his graduate school program, he proposed, and Liza whole-heartedly accepted. After a year of long-distance, we finally got married.
Over the past 8 years we have a built a life together that celebrates both the big things and the small ones, and ultimately, we treat each other with love and respect, and we cannot wait to expand our family.
A little about Liza
Liza has one younger brother Nash and her parents Amanda and Adam have been married for 37 years. We are extremely close and have daily family face-time sessions despite the time difference.
Liza loves to plan trips and activities to do on the weekends. She always has a list of places she wants to go to or restaurants to try. She also loves to make their home a warm and inviting space for friends and family. She loves to experiment with different types of recipes and is so excited to prepare special meals for a little one. Liza loves to entertain whether it’s a BBQ or having friends over for coffee.
Liza moved to the States in 2006 to attend New York University and after graduating stayed in NYC for her first job. Liza loves living in the United States and never plans to leave
Liza loves to read and write, to go on hikes followed by a trip to the local bakery for baked goods and spending time with her family and friends. She looks forward to sharing her love of reading and delicious treats with a little one! She loves to cook and host dinners and BBQs in our summer house. Liza is also a planner and a list-keeper always filling her notebooks with fun things to do, ideas for a vacation or even tasks she needs to accomplish around the house.
A little about Charlie
Charlie grew up in a close-knit community in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He has an older sister Betsy and a younger brother Patrick – and is an uncle to 4 nieces and 4 nephews. Charlie attended University and moved to NYC for his first job which is also where he met Liza. Charlie also went onto Graduate School for an MBA. Charlie leads a very active lifestyle – he enjoys exercising, playing golf, swimming, and going for walks. He is also an avid sports fan and enjoys attending live sporting events with friends and family.
He is so excited about the idea of sharing these activities with a child as they grow. Additionally, he enjoys reading both fiction and non-fiction books, with a recent focus on historical non-fiction. He is already looking for books to read to a little one. Finally, Charlie enjoys grilling and cooking at home with Liza and just imagines having a child to enjoy cooking with. Charlie’s fondest memories from childhood revolve around his family and close-knit community. Charlie lived in the same house for the first 18 years of his life with his parents (married for nearly 40 years) and his brother and sister. The family enjoyed taking trips (annual 16-hour drive to South Carolina every year!), attending each other’s sporting events, and eating dinner together every night to catch up on each other’s days.
