We are searching for birthparents in CT and we were recently chosen by a woman who gave birth to a boy on 7/11/03. At the time of her labor and del. there was no social worker at the hospital. The nurses told her to go make a plan and come back. She made a plan, looked at profiles, and chose us to adopt her child. When she went back to the hospital DCFS told her the state of CT was now involved and the baby was a ward of the state. Even though the agency, the bmom, and dcfs met together, they left the baby in a state foster home/potential public adoption. Has anyone else experienced this? We are in our mid 30's and desperately want to parent a 2nd child. Our son just turned 3 (we adopted him previously). We were so close and now the state took the decision out of the birthmoms hands. How do we make this work if the state and others aren't letting it happen? Has anyone else had this issue? Thanks-Julie
