Hello All. I've heard about several people on this board using World Partners to adopt from Panama. If anyone could share about their experience with that agency so far, I'd really appreciate it. Feel free to private message me if need be. Thanks so much! -Kathy
Kathy, we are using World Partners to adopt from Panama. Here's our experience so far. The first time called, I spoke with a case worker who was able to answer all of my questions very knowledgeably and talked to me for almost an hour. I was very impressed with the fact that the director had just visited Panama and had visited the orphanges and spoken directly with the assistants to the two judges who process the adoptions.
After we sent in our application, we received a binder that is truly amazing. There are many sections including one that takes each document required for the dossier and tells you exactly how to acquire and notarize and apostille that document and how many you will need. There are also sections on traveling to Panama that were extremely thorough and informative. I feel like I will be very prepared when it is my time to go. They have obviously researched everything very well.
Our home study is done, psych eval is done, doctor's appointments this week, all other documents in hand except for the 171H, which will be the holdup. Whenever we finally get that, we can submit our dossier and maybe tell you more, but so far, we think WPA is great!

Kathy,
My husband and I are also working with WPA. We began with the intent to go to Kazakhstan, because we already knew Guatemala was in flux. When we discovered WPA was opening a Panama program we switched, with the full support of our coordinator and after a lengthy discussion with Jim, WPA's exec. director.
Both our coordinator and Jim have always been very accessible and willing to talk through anything. There have been times when we've waited a day or two for an answer to a question, but not very frequently. We are very happy with them and we feel like they've got their act really together for this new program.
Our documents are now with the Panama Consulate. By next week they should be with the attorney in Panama! Then the really tough wait for a referral begins.
Good luck!
