A book about adoption can help a child to start to feel comfortable talking out their feelings about their adoption.
You can enhance bonding and help your child bring up any topic they long to talk about regarding adoption. It is important to know that we do not have to have all the answers or the perfect answer when an adopted child talks about adoption. A comment such as "how does that make you feel?" will help a child to recognize and work through their emotions. To not talk would be far more of a hardship to a child. Sometimes because we do not have a really good answer and it may feel uncomfortable we feel that a "talk time" did not go well when in reality it went really well because the child had an opportunity for express themselves.
Have any of you read some children books with your special child?
How has it gone for your family?
