My husband and I are exploring the adoption option, after having recently been told that I am going to have to have a hysterectomy in the near future... We have no other children and it is our deepest wish to have children. We always talked about adopting but now it is reality. My concern is that in our past we were not very financially stable and we did end up filing bankruptcy... My concern is that we wont be able to adopt because of this past fault on our part... Does anyone know if this would cause a problem??
Thanks
~Wendy

I shouldn't matter in LDSFS, we are in the approval process (just need insurance) and we also just filed for Bankruptcy (due to business debt from failed businesses because of 9/11)

Hello,
I think it can make a difference, but it does depend on who you go through. My understanding is that you may have to submit a letter expaining the reason that you had financial difficulties and what you learned from it. I am pretty sure that is what my SW told me, but not possitive. If you are back 'on your feet" financially, then you should be able to prove some stability, and it may also depend on how long ago the bankruptcy took place, but your SW will be able to tell you.
Good luck!
