Let me introduce myself. I am Lucy, a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Volunteer in Amarillo, Texas. I am currently trying to help a foster family that cares for two special needs children find a resource to aquire a chair lift for their van.
Several organizations have been contacted in regards to obtaining this essential equipment that will help in providing for these two beautiful special needs children, however, the pursuit has not been very successful.
Can anyone suggest resources for obtaining a lift for this van?
I usually don't post messages like this. I'm just at a loss. There has to be someone out there that can help this family.
The lift will facilitate traveling with the children. Things we take for granted, like getting children in and out of a vehicle, are compounded when those children have special needs.
This lift is needed for the children. Can anyone help me by pointing me in the right direction?

Lucy,
Has the agency checked with Medicaid? Also, you can check with your local United Way for resources such as ECI, MHMR, Health & Human Services. I would imagine that there would be a local non-profit organization that would be able to take care of this situation.
The contact information for your local United Way is:
