I really think this is a cute movie. My son (he is 3) loves it. We got it about 2 or 3 weeks ago. I think him watching this show will be a GREAT intro to a second adoption. We are very open with our son, about the fact that he is adopted. He is young, yet, and doesn't really comprehend.
We are waiting to be matched for a second adoption. Using Stuart Little as an example when we are matched, may be a way to tell our son that we are going to be getting a younger brother/sister for him.
Just hopefully he doesn't think it means that he is going to get a mouse for a brother/sister. ROFL.

This is not a movie I would EVER use to explain adoption. In the movie the "birthmice" get Stuart back just because they "want him" and they 'match'. The adoptive parents just hand him back.
There are lots of other reasons why this movie isnt appropriate for adopted children but that would be the main one. The Adoptive FAmilies magazine did a big review on this movie and did not recommend it for children under 10-12 who could have the flaws explained to them.

I guess I was just looking at the 'surface' of the movie. That George got a brother, and that in the end it was ok that he wasn't exactly like him.
What you say DOES make sense, though. I guess I best not use this movie to explain adoption, then. Just let him enjoy it. ;)
