If you check out 'South Carolina Searching Resources' posted by thesearchguru (at the top of the postings), it wil give you a good starting point.
You can also search for either Birth records or Vital records for your city via any search engine and may have some luck there.

HEY I JUST POSTED A POST ON A NORTH CAROLINA'S ASKING FOR SOUTH CAROLINA'S INDEXES. DID YOU EVER GET A HOLD OF THEM>? I HAVE SOME TEXAS ONES. THEY WERE EASY. SOUTH CAROLINA SEEMS TO BE A HARD STATE TO GET INTO. HAVE YOU TRIED ANY WHERE ELSE AND ALMOST GOT IN? WHAT ARE YOUR IDEAS?? THAKS FOR ANY HELP! GOOD LUCK TO YOU AS WELL.
as far as I have found out, is that there are no b index for SC. was your adoption thru an agency or dss? if so, write to the dept of social services in columbia and ask them for non-id. also, there are some great groups you can check for search help.send me your email and i'll have the groups send you an invitation if your interested. my email is columbiasc68@yahoo.com

Okay here is what I have found on a sc birth index. after speaking with columbia I have been told that Birth indexes in this state are only released afeter they are 100 years old so this year they will release 1906 birth indexes. So unless the person you are looking for is 100 then that wont help any, sorry
