Hi everyone,
My daughter Brittany and I have written a book called, "My Special Someone" a child's perspective of adoption. It is written by my daughter when she was six-years-old about the adoption of her little sister Grace. It is a simple story with fun activities for children ( a secret message woven into the story and questions for kids at the end.) Also, included for parents, is a bookmark called Bonding Moments and 10 tips for a smooth transition.
The exciting thing for me is that an adoptive mom I know is going to use our book to tell their 5-year-old that she is adopted. I'm thrilled that this book can be used in this way.
You can check it out at http://www.adoptionshop.com and type in My Special Someone in the search area.
I want to encourage you to write your own story (published or not) because it is a wonderful experience for the whole family!!!
Blessings to you!

Hi there Momma 2003...sorry to take so long in replying to your post.
Yes, our book has been popular on adoptionshop.com...in fact, it is one of their best sellers! :)
Hi There Stacie!
Thanks for the compliment! I'm having so much fun with our book!
As for getting your book on adoptionshop, I would have your publisher send a book along with a cover letter. My publisher took care of it, so I don't know if it costs anything. Best of luck! Tell me if it gets on adoptionshop!
Your book looks fun! I did see one page. It is hard to rhykme! Impressive.
I looked on your profile and was impressed that you are a social worker! Now, I have a question for you!
I have a degree in Speech Pathology but have a passion for adoption! I want to help others adopt. Would it be the best thing for me to get a Masters in Sociology? I know there are adoptive parents out there who start agencies...and I don't know if that is what I'm suppose to do...but, I know I want to help families adopt. Any thoughts?
Blessings,
sherryk
Actually a master's degree in social work would be the route to take.Sociology is actually not as helpful anymore.Send me a pm and Ill give you more feedback on this.I,too,am interested in working in adoption down the road.I could work in that field now;however,I am working with the chemically dependent population currently.
Thank you for the help with adoption shop......Ill send a press release and a review copy.My publisher is sending out 100 pressreleases etc,so Ill take care of that one.
Thanks again.I look foward to talking to you.
