Hello everyone,
My husband and I have finally made the decision to adopt and are planning to begin immediately after the holidays. We had originally planned on adopting internationally but have now decided to try to adopt from the united states. We have decided we are interested in adopting a toddler aged child. While we have sort of decided that we would like a little girl, we have also decided we are not going to limit ourselves and, if we find a little boy that is "right" for us, then so be it. I was curious about the possibility of adopting a child that is currently in foster care. We would like a physically healthy child and are aware that there will be psychological issues that we would have to deal with, as with any "trauma" in a childs life. We are very excited that after four years of "trying" to become parents, and after experiencing terrible losses, that we are finally ready to take the beginning step to become parents. I just don't know where to start and who to contact regarding the process of adopting a child in foster care. Also, we live in PA and live only about a mile from MD. Based on experience, would we be better to try to adopt a child from MD or PA?
Thanks for all of your help, comments and suggestions! We cherish EVERY word!
I answered your question on the other forum. Just wanted to let you know there are some others of us out here in PA. LOL
