Hi, I'm Michelle.
I just signed up for the forumns and thought this would be a good place to post. I actually have not started the adoption process yet (and probably won't start for at least another 6 months), but I did have a question about LDS FS. Does anyone know if there are any age requirements for adoptive parents?
My husband and I are just starting to research adoption and are finding it hard to meet age requirements because we are young. I am 20 and he is 22. When we do start the process however I will be 21 and he will be 23. Many websites I have checked have a minimum age requirement of 25.
If LDS FS does not accept our ages, does anyone know of another agency that would consider us?
Thanks!

Hi,
I am sure that you do not need to be over 25 to adopt with LDSFS. You just need to have been married at least 2 years and sealed in the temple as Ladybuglady said (Hi LBL!). It is still a 2 year marriage req. even with proven infertitlity (that was our situation) I am 24 and we have been approved for about 6 months. Good luck on your journey!

My husband and I are 20 and 24 and are currently starting the adoption process. I will be 21 in a few weeks. We aren't adopting through LDS FS because we already have a child (and one on the way!) but I know a lot of agencies only require you to be at least 21 and be married at least 2 years. I wish you luck! If you want to, you could PM me. It's not often you meet someone so young adopting!!:)
Michelle, I'm not LDS, but my dh and I are using an agency in Utah that is run by a lady who is LDS. I don't believe she requires you to be of a certain age to adopt. She generally gets non-caucasian or biracial babies (AA, Hisp, Amer. Ind., Asian, etc.), but if you're interested in more information, pm me and I'll share with you.
