I loved Will Farrell's ability to capture the child like responses and behavior in the movie Elf. However I'm wondering if anyone else was sensitive to the portrayal of adoption in the movie. Your thoughts?
I haven't taken our kids to see it yet but planned to do that next week on their school break. Had no idea adoption was even a theme in this movie! As my daughter has already had some problems with Lilo & Stitch & Stuart Little, I'd appreciate a small synopsis of the adoption theme before I take the kids to see it.
Thanks!

I would like to know more as well, we were also planning to go and see it over the school break.
Thanks
I saw it and really liked it. My daughter (10) liked it also. She said parts of it made her sad, because she wants to find her biofamily when she is old enough. It is a movie, so it will not be perfect. But it was funny, and I thought showed adoption (although by an elf) as positive. The ending has Will Farrell being part of both his elf family and bio family. The elves do make fun of him because he does not fit in completely, but NOT his Poppa Elf.....he is upset about not fitting in with his human family or elf family, but it does resolve itself in the end.
The thing is he is not adopted in the movie. He is a baby in an orphanage and santa comes and the baby sneaks into santas bag. They find him when they get abck to the north pole. They give him to the head elf to raise, since they can't take him back.
The whole story ends up positive, when his birthfather and elf father all join together for one family.
It is a cute"movie" and my kids,8 &4, loved it.....
