We are considering adopting in Panama. My wife is Panamanian. Does anyone have contacts (adoption lawyers, orphanages, etc) inside Panama to use vs using one of these international adoption agencies? Any other suggestions?
Thanks,
M&J
I too have some contacts in Panama. While making all the condsiderations of doing the adoption independently or using an agency, I have decided to utilize an agency. I did extensive research into the cost differences and that is quite a difference. However, it appears from having known someone who had used our personal contacts and not an agency and also reading messages on this forum, it appears to be quite a bit less expensive but the time frame from start to finish is much more lengthy. My contacts has family living there and that is involved in politics and government and it took nearly 2 years for our friends to complete their adoption. She has agreed that using an agency will help expediate the process. Also, I've chosen Faith International and between their contacts and mine they seem fairly optimistic that I may be able to reduce the time frame of the entire process. They were very excited about having other contacts to expediate things. We'lll just have to wait and see. From their lips to HIS ears!:D
Hope that helps with some insight. Good luck in your future decision as any connections can always help!!
