Many courts will open a sealed adoption file for medical reasons. Contact the court where your adoption was finalized and ask for a "Petition to Open a Sealed Adoption File". When you receive the form, fill it out carefully according to the instructions. Attach a letter from your Dr. stating your medical condition. It usually also helps to attach a copy of your amended birth certificate and a copy of your driver's license. Have your signature on the petition notarized.
I also recommend that you write the Judge a coverletter to go with your petition. It is wise to send the letter registered mail. Keep a copy of what you are sending to the court.
Sometimes, but not always, a medical request will suffice to get your sealed adoption file opened.

Have a personal conversation with your family Dr. regarding any medical concerns that you have and ask the Dr. to write a letter to the Superior Court in the county where your adoption was finalized. Generally the rule is that the court will only consider "genetic" medical conditions as a valid reason for opening a file. However, I have seen the courts grant access for minor medical concerns and turn down access for major medical concerns. A lot depends on the personal opinion of the judge who is reviewing your petition.
