I'm getting so frustrated with this I could scream ! I'm looking for my sister who my mom gave up for adoption just a few days after she was born. I havent posted anything for about a year, but I've been coming back often to check for any new clues. PLEASE !! SOMEONE HELP ME !! My sister will be 25 in August 2004. Her adoption was finalized in May of 1980 so she may be celebrating her birthday in May which would make her 24. We got her non identifying information last year with a name that was given to her, but I cant do anything with this information. She might not know she is adopted. How can one go about finding someone that doesnt know they are lost? (weird way of putting it, but I dont know how else to say it) The last name on the info we got is POWLEY. Anyone familiar with that last name? She was adopted out of Port Alberni BC and may have moved to the Victoria area. anyone with any clues?? I posted a picture with me and my sister incase theres anyone out there that looks like us
*waiting (im)patiently*
PS, sorry about the make up job, I changed my shirt so it clashed
Hi,
I can understand your frustration, it is difficult........
One never knows if:
the adoptee wants contact
or
if the adoptee knows they are adopted.
Have you registered with Parent Finders?
http://www.parentfinders.org ?
Although there is a small fee, they have quite an extensive database that may help and they are based in BC
Not sure where you are located, but you might try looking at old phone books in the library for that city and following the name through the years.
Have you tried entering her birthname or adoptive name into a search engine such as google?
Put quotations at the beginning and end, see what turns up
Here's a different kind of link

Type in her adoptive name and see what comes up.
Never give up, even when it seems there is nothing else that can be done ~ there is another avenue to take
