References for Bulgarian adoption

I did not like there reprezentative in Bulgaria. She never returns calls on time. I had to call a lot to find her. The information she gave me wasn't right. I am a Bulgarian and I had moore info than her and I am in USA.

I completed my adoption from Bulgaria in July 2003. I loved my agency and had no problems whatsoever. It seems that their partners in Bulgaria were on top of everything. I've never heard of the agency you mentioned. I used Holt International and I know several people who used Tree of Life and were very pleased with them. In fact, I shared part of my pick up trip with a family from Tree of Life. We flew in at the same time, stayed in the same hotel, had med visit together, Embassy appointment together and shared lots of meals together. There are a couple Yahoo groups with people who are in process, who are considering, have completed an adoption from Bulgaria. You may want to join and get some feedback. The people there won't say anything about a particular agency on the board, however, they will certainly respond to you personally.

Linda: An agency with a good reputation and one that is currently accredited in Bulgaria is Americans for International Aid and Adoption (AIAA). Teri Bell, their program director, is a good person and helped us when we hit a few snags in our own adoption.

Perhaps people could also contact past clients of different agencies via the agency registry sites. These are an excellent resource on the Internet for those just starting out on the adoption journey.
