Hello, My name is Dee and Im in Roanoke VA. A shout out to all those in Utah I miss it and my family!!!
I'm new here and do not know all the lingo or the symbols Im sure I will learn.
My DH and I were married 9 yrs and after 3 failed fertility we decided last Oct 2002 to stop for a while. With in a week I found out about a young girl wanting to give up her child and I was asked if I was interested! Hello, YES!!!!!!With no reservations and alot of prayer We said yes. We of course new not to get hopes up. The baby was to be born Dec 30 C section so I could be there, and the girl would live with my mom while I stayed with the baby at a members home. Well the Lord had other ideas and the young Mother stressed went into labor Dec 14 ( Natural) my mother was there for the birth!!!
Dec 15 the B mother left the hospitol Dec 16th I took my Medical leave and I was there on the 17th went straight to the hospitol and signed my baby out and went home to my mom's. Of course because it all happened so fast none of the studies were done so I did have to leave her for 10 days with mom and go home to my DH. After 2 months of waiting for the initial papers to be done My baby and I came home to VA to see her Daddy for the first time!!
Our lives have been so blessed a true miricle. I firmly beleive the this precious child was waiting for us and the Lord had to intervene (Sp?) She is ours to care for int this lifetime and soon will be ours for eternity!
Adoption finally final 1/12/04 and we are going to Utah to have her blessed with my family present and hopefully be able to go to the temple!
Im so sorry this is so long I was just so excited to share my story. I hope and pray for all of you waiting, the Lord has his plan!

Congratulations! I know exactly what you are talking about. We finally finalized after almost 2 years with our oldest son November 24, 2003. We also finalized with our second adoption on January 9, 2004. We were sealed as a forever family on January 20, 2004. I will tell you, when they brought them to the sealing room and they were dressed so handsome. I just started to cry! It is a wonderful experience. I wish you the best!!!!!

I cant wait, however Im working hard on the DH who is truggling with the church. We are endowed however it has been years since we have attended the temple. He is a convert was S Baptist. So Im hopeing that he will realize how important it will be for us to take her to the temple. Thanks and congrats on your family!!!!
Congratulations on your recent adoption!! How exciting!!
I did have one question... I thought that when you adopted the children couldnt be sealed to you in the temple until they were 8 years of age? Did I misunderstand?? I just became a member of the church last March so some things are still new to me..
Thanks
Wendy
Well Welcome to the Church!!
It is only baptism that you have to be eight. As far as I know, now that she legally will have our name and after she is blessed she can be sealed for time and all eternity. I have been told that as long as we are temple worthy we can go now anytime. However my DH is struggling with a few things. I was raised in the church and was inactive for a long time. my husband joined 10 yrs ago and still has his fears. So I look forward to the day that we can see our little girl all in white!
Best of luck to you, are you adopting or have adopted?
Thanks Dee

Sorry So Long!!!!!
I read a post from you reguarding your situation, I guess I should have read that before asking!
I cant say I know what you are going through however I do know of the pain of not having a little one to hold and others are poping out like rabbits. In our ward right now there are 6 mothers expecting and this is in a small ward in VA not like all the wards in Utah. We struggled for 9 years with fertility ( unexplained) we had 3 failed treatments when we gave up for a time. I cried endlessly anytime I saw another baby! Especially on TLC a baby story!! ( DO NOT WATCH THOSE!!!! unless you want to cry!) When I was at my lowest that is when we learned about our little angel we named her Morgan Shaye she is now 13 months and a hand full. I remember telling my husband that my child will never be rowdy in Sacrament meeting and this last sunday I almost died she took a tantrum to a new level (extreme) !!!! She came at a time our family needed her the most though, my DH Father passed the week after we found out about her. She has brought so much joy! It will happen for you! Anyway I do hope and pray the best for you. We hope for more to come in our family however Im 33 my DH is 53 so it will have to be soon.
It does help to talk, so if you ever have any questions please feel free to write.
Good Luck!!

Congratulations!
We live in VA also! We moved here from Colorado - I miss it - my husband is from the east so he doesn't miss it as much (pity party for me...) Gotta love Virginians' use of the word "mountain."
You are SO BLESSED! When we finalized the adoption and went to the Denver temple to be sealed, it was so amazing. Our son was brought in by a temple worker, all dressed in a little white suit that they provided, and then - at 8 months old - he just reached his hand out to put in on ours!!!
Okay, like you, I never get tired of telling our adoption story. This is the first website I've found with an LDS forum (I haven't been looking, really).
Again, congrats!
P.S. My question for anybody reading this is, where do you find out what all these abbreviations are? dh, **, etc.? I'm thinking dh is dear husband but there are days when d could stand for other things.
Hi and welcome!
There are a lot of abreviations, I will try to list some of them...
dh=dear/darling husband
ds or dd=dear son/daughter
fd or fs or fc= Foster daughter, son, or child
IMHO=in my humble opinion
LMAO/LMBO=laugh my but off
SIL/MIL/FIL=sister is law, mother, father
IF=infertility
LOL=laugh out loud
bmom is birthmom (do not use the first 2 letters only, people find it offensive)
amom = adoptive mom
adad=adoptive dad
aparents=adoptive parents
That is all i can think of right now. There is a large amount of LDS people on the hopetoadopt.com forumn that is really a great group and very supportive. This group is also good about answering questions and giving opinions.
Good luck!
