Hi, I'm new to this forum..and new in general to this entire process.
We're going to be foster parents for my sister in laws children... until she either gets them back or they totally relinquish parental rights from both parents. From there on it's still undecided whether or not we would adopt them. This is a major decision on our part.
I have already been told of the financial help and support available through foster care parents and adoption...but my question is if there is any through the marine corps if not financial than any other support available? Who would I speak with to find this out? What forms do I need to fill out? As foster care parents would they also be considered under our military benefits?
My husbands doing MECEP- so right now we're active duty and still receive all benifits...but we are attached to the NROTC program at our University- which isn't very big and not your typical chain of command set up. Any help and knowledge of this is greatly appreciated.
Thank you,

Hi Rebecca,
Not an expert in foster care and military, but can share what I know of the system. These children would be entitled to CHAMPUS/TRICARE if the courts award you legal guardianship, I believe.
Should you adopt these children, you're entitled to a $2000 per child reimbursement of costs related to the adoption from the military.
As far as other services, I'm sure there are many others on this board and the Foster Parenting board who can speak better than I.
Best of luck, hope this helps!
