Has ANYONE ever wondered just HOW Mz Lee finds and soooooo fast? I mean I have had people who have went through the best search angels and had been searching for year.
Some have even tried other PI's with no results.
They finally give up and go to Chris Lee(a birthmother I have heard), and she gives them their information within a day or so?
Something smells reallllll fishy to me.

Yes, I asked her why so much. She said because they ask for no deposit upfront, and you don't pay if they don't find. There is no way I can pay that with or without the payment plans...with the plans it ends up being almost 4 thousand!!! I am a full time student...and mother....and I only work part time...seems quite impossible to me, and I believe I would be angry to know someone ELSE knows and won't tell me. I have searched everywhere I can think of. I have registered with ISRR, etc. and all over the internet. I have my non id info, but I think that may be all I ever have, as Edith Votta (CHS, Greensboro) told me that no one had tried to make contact as of yet. That was 4 years ago, and I have been searching since age 13!!! How frustrating. Sorry...had to vent. DOB 11-03-79 STILL LOOKING....
I know exactly how you are feeling. I too had contacted Kinsolving for my "free quote". I remember feeling devastated, my quote was in that same ballpark figure. There was no way I could afford that. And it infuriated me to know that she had the info, but would not give it to me because I could not pay her outrageous fee. I felt like it was emotional blackmail. I know the time and effort that goes into these searches, but her fees are riduculous.
Thank God I was able to complete my search and many others for a fraction of what she wanted. :D

I contacted a long list of other PIs in NC, but the majority of them no longer or never did perform such searches. The reason she can charge so much is probably because she has monopolized adoption searches. She is successful, but you would think, being a birth mother, she would understand the emotions involved in this process.
I'm sure she does understand the emotion involved in searching since she used to lead the support group I went to in Charlotte.
One of the people I was searching for turned out to be dead, however she was still willing to charge me an outlandish fee and she knew the person was dead.
I saw on another thread where you were interested about the special proceedings books. They are public record, but contain no identifying info within them. So to an adoptee they are not much help. If you were to locate it, it would only contain info, that you already know. I do recommend getting the Final Order that angelitte spoke of, in case you decide to petition the court. There won't be a record of your birth in Guilford county either. You were born in Charlotte, right? That's where your birth is recorded, and they have expunged all adoption related births after about 1961. Your best clues will be in the conversations you have with Edith.
Good Luck. :)
