In searching I feel like I am grasping at straws, especially while reading through these postings. I was born on 10-18-74. When I was 17 my mom told me they got to make up my birthplace and hospital. All those years I thought I was born in Tulsa. So when I read through postings and see someone's birthday even close to mine, I think well if they got to make up the city and hospital, did they get to make up the day to??? I am obviously just letting my imagination getting to me. My parents just seem to not have much to give me to go on. Good luck, apparently we all need it!!

Oklahoma law did allow adoptive parents to change the place of the birth and the physician's name, if everyone agreed. And rarely they also changed the date--by a few days. Certainly not an honst practice. Have you asked your adoptive parents where you were really born? My first guess would be OKC, because a lot of times they would switch babies from one town to another.
If your adoptive parents were living in Tulsa at the time of the adoption, that would be where your adoption should be filed. It would be worth a trip to Judge Morrissey's office to ask her to search the court records for you. Ask her for a copy of everything in your file, and also a court order for your original birth certificate. Depending on what is in the file, maybe she will give you a court order. Also, if you have any medical problems, please tell her about them--that might help you press your case. Good luck. Mary

Hi, we're all in this together. Here are some more suggestions that might help.
If you are coming to Tulsa from out-of-town, then I would definitely call ahead to make sure the judge will be there on the day you plan to go in.
Then I would write her a letter with all of your pertinent information. Name, birthdate, adoptive parents' names. Etc. Anything that would help identify you.
If you have any health problems, state them. If they are severe, you could attach a letter from your doctor.
Then ask her for a copy of everything in your file, plus a court order for your original birth certificate.
You will be less likely to get lost in the shuffle if you give her something in writing. Also, make certain your return address and phone number on the letter are absolutely fool-proof. You wouldn't want to miss any reply!!!
There is a group that is just getting started to try to lobby for open records and we could use everyone's help.
