I am 26 years old and my partner and I are getting ready to have a child. I need to know how to go about adopting the child.
Any info that would point us in the right direction would help.
Congratulations on the arrival of your child! I suggest that you contact a reputable adoption lawyer to facilitate the adoption.
I believe that www.mare.org (Michigan Adoption Resource Exchange) has a list of adoption attorneys.
good luck!

hi sporto,
is your partner having a birth child and you want to adopt, or is your partner adopting and you want to also adopt the child?
i agree with JL on this, you should get a lawyer. adoption regulations differ from state to state around gay adoptions.
Im from mass, gay adoption is fine. But i would check.
congrats on your new arrival, wonderful news, you both must be overjoyed....

We have not had baby my partner and I are getting ready to get pregnant. We are just trying to be prepared for when the time comes. Thank you for your reply.
I work in adoption in Michigan (Morning Star Adoption Center). It is not possibl ein Michigan for unmarried couples to adopt the same child. If your partner is carrying the child, if not married, there is not a step-parent adoption. Washtenaw County was doing same sex parent adoptions, until the press caught on and the Chief Judge stopped them.
If you have any questions, you may call us. We're in the phone book or listed in Southfield.
Good Luck.
