I have a question and so far I have found nothing that someone can not answer.
I just received the copy of my husbands discharge papers from 1978. On it is a little sentence stating he was discharged under other than honorable conditions.
I kind of felt a slug to my stomache. He was very young at the time and was pretty cocky! He has since raised two grown children - one adopted and I would not have enought room to go on about his character now. Of course we have discussed it in great detail since deciding to adopt internationally but I guess seeing in on paper and knowing we have to turn it in to a foreign government makes it seem much bigger.
Does anyone know if this is going to be a stop dead in our tracks issue?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
my DH was in the military many years ago as well and his service never came up. we never had to submit any papers on previous "employment" just current. do you need this for your homestudy or your agency? how did it come up?

Before we signed on with the agency we are using now, who will be also doing our homestudy, I had begun to do a homestudy with another agency. As part of the application it required military records. I guess each agency wants different information. We have it if they ask now.
I think as long as you explain it and since it was many years ago it should be ok. There is a difference between a less than honorable discharge and a dis-honorable discharge. I hope it doesn't become an issue, I've seen plenty of people on here w/ criminal backgrounds who sailed right through so hopefully it will work out! Good luck!
Thank you for the warm wishes. I am sure everything will work out but now and then you get the little panic button going. My big plans for this week are round up the family and go get fingerprinted and do lunch. So much for candel light, romance and nine months later baby!
You have a great outlook, your posts always make me laugh! I am guessing you have adult children at home?
