I have the 1986 Birth Index in an Access file which is searchable by name, birthdate, county of birth and sex of child. If you are a birthparent who placed a child for adoption in Texas in 1986, this will give you the list of all children born on that day in that county.
I am a 1986 Gladney Center birthmother and have the list of the 32 males born on my son's birthday, although I'm not looking to start any sort of search right now. I am also a reunited adoptee who was born at the Gladney Center, then known as the Edna Gladney Home. I would be more than glad to sort, print and mail or fax a list of names to anyone for a specific birthdate in 1986.

I dont know how any of this works today is my first day looking for info about my birth family. I have found my brothers and sister but I am now looking for our mother and Father(s). but my brother was born in 86 in Texas. His name was Rickie, Richard, Ricky or something similar to that. If his name was on your list would it have info about our Birth parents? If so PLEASE send the list. cdsw77@yahoo.com
My little brother was born in 86' can ya hook me up even if he was born at Gladney. Are those names included on there??
BE sure and register at the Tx Care Registry - lots of found Gladney babies are on that site.
Register on as many sites as possible.
I saw the birthindexes listed in one of these Gladney threads which lead me to my daughter.
Pretty Awesome

That is awesome!! Now how does it work.....I mean do you have to look thru all of the names and try to see if anything matches or what??? I think I'll go and register him now....Thanks!!!

I don't know if there is a quick and easy way - but I looked through all of the names of the babies born on her bdate in that year - I ended up with about 20 names
Your right I had no luck for his b-day.....I did kind of search the web a bit and found a bunch of other registries. I've put him on all of them that are free. (I love him but I'm not made of money) lol! Anyway I guess really we just have to keep our fingers crossed. Really this could all just be in vain because if she is already registered and then he registers, they can meet right. I know he is going to send his stuff off pretty soon. I do have one more question that ya'll might could help me with. What's the deal with the psycological evaluation thing and how much does that cost? Does Gladney have their own person or does he have to find one in MS.?

I started my search by registering at all of these places and then got the index - and felt compelled to get the babies names - then it snowballed after I could see a list of names and that one was her. Since we are in reunion - we got to share stories and my sister had actually posted at TX Care in 1998 and several years ago my bdaughter was checkiing things out and ran across my sister's posting. So - she knew someone was looking for her.
So she went ahead and sent her info into Gladney and today they sent me an email saying there was a "match". Imagine that... I was instructed to get counseling and they gave me a print -out of issues the counselor needed to address with me and then the counselor send a letter back. I have actually heard of ministers or priests doing the counseling also.
I actually think it is best to get some sort of counseling because of all of the issues that come up. The items Gladney suggests are all valid topics that have to be addressed in some form.
This is the most exciting time of my life.
I wish you
