Hello to anyone reading this post and thank you in advance for your time!!! I am a 35 year old adoptee born in ohio and adopted from Tennessee, along with my now 26 year old half sister. I am interested in first) obtaining a copy of the adoption records, looking for possible health issues, genealogy, questions about circumstances of adoption and general curiosity.second) possible contact based on info and feeling after adoption records are reviewed. I was taken from my mother when I was 9-10 and adopted when I was 12, so I still vividly remember my natural mother. know her name, status when I was adopted etc. given the information I have I would think it would be fairly simple to recover any info I seek.... Just not sure of the best way to do so. given that I do not live in Tennessee, do I need to hire and attorney? if so any recommendations? search firm.. make a visit to see what I can rumage up? just not sure where to start? any suggestions would be appreciated.. thanks again for your time! MMiner
Try the Department of Children's Services state office in Nashville. They are in the Cordell Hull Bldg. Not sure of the remainder of the address. I think any adoptee over 18 or 21 can see their full adoption record.

That is the best way for you non identifying information. However, be prepared to wait. We have been waiting for 3 years for information regarding my husband's records. There should be an easier way, unfortunately there is not or at least not that we have found.
Good Luck on your search.
