Welcome to the Search and Reunion Message Board!
It is not wise to post your non-identifying information on a public message board. If you are contacted by someone who might be your birth relative you will want to ask questions that relate to the information in your non-identifying report. Click on this link to read about sharing too much information on the internet:
http://forums.adoption.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=98290.
For ease in others reading these many messages it would help to post as a new threadӔ and to include the following information in the subject line PLUS in the content of the message:
gender of adopted person
date of birth
city of birth
state of birth
For example: male 01/01/1960 Chicago Illinois
Other people reading the message board will be more likely to identify with this basic information and will be more likely to read your complete message and contact you if there is a match.
Also post in the message boards for the year of birth and state of birth for the best exposure for your search information.

To, The Search Guru :
I have been searching for my son for over 10 yrs , I finally fount him. ( No personal contact yet , Have sent him letters ) but no reply.
Your post says to give : Gender, D.O.B. City And State, but not name?
The State of Florida has a very good system to look up info on if you have a name. And ZABA can give you a general address search for every one with that name , And there are people out here who are willing to help others with their search .
thank you for your time . MMCS
Colleen,
Thanks for the info on posting info. I am a female adoptee, born 06/11/1961 in Salt Lake City, Utah. I have had an extremely frustrating time with my search for my birth mother and possibly birth father. I have been searching for more than 15 years and have always had a strong sense that my birth mother wants me to find her. I am listed on both the Utah State Registry and the International Registry as well as on Adoption.com. I have had approximately 45 "hits" since registering with Adoption.com, but I'm not sure what that means. Does that mean those are potential candidates? Is there anything I need to do more or do I just wait and hope that someone contacts me?
Anxiously desiring reunion with anyone from my birth family!

I was adopted through an agency and had a very easy time locating my bmother, so really I don't know a lot about searching. What I am interested in is there any advice for helping my brother search. He was adopted through the Department of Welfare in Indianapolis, IN back in the early 60's. So, where do I start to talk to someone? It was easy for me because I just called my adoption agency. He has recieved his non-identifying info. I do have him on here. Any words of wisdon to get the ball rolling or a reference (PM me) of a good search angel in Indianapolis? Thanks!!
Carolyn

I do know that all of this took place in Indianapolis, IN in the early '60's. He was adopted through the state welfare department, so I don't even know how to go about asking them for file information.
