It's likely the birthmother was in the Mae Marshall Home for Unwed Mothers. It operated in Edmond from 1947-1958. When she closed up shop, she said she had placed 1,100 babies. We have looked everywhere, and have not been able to find any records of the home. Mae has been dead for a long time.
Many of the babies were delivered at the old Edmond Hospital, which was located over the Broncho Theater in downtown Edmond. The doctors and nurses could hear the movies playing, and while they were in surgery, or in the delivery room, each staff member mouthed a different character's voice. By the end of each run, the doctors and nurses pretty much knew the movies by heart.
Good luck on your search. Mary
