I am trying to help my brother-in-law find his birthmother. According to his amended birth certificate, he was born in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. He was adopted in South Carolina. His birthmother was born in 1954. She was 18 when she was pregnant with him. His name at birth may have been "Tom". His birthmother liked to sing and fix hair. She was in the Horticulture Club and Choral Club at her school. She would have been a Senior in high school. Her father owned a a small cabinet shop. She had several siblings. Her mother did the bookkeeping for the cabinet shop. They were Baptists. We think she probably stayed at Florence Crittenton in Charlotte. We know she stayed at a home for unwed mothers. We think she was probably from South Carolina. I checked the North Carolina birth index and found an index that matched my brother-in-law's info. It listed the mother as being from South Carolina. It also said that the birth was at Charlotte Memorial Hospital, which is right across the street from Florence Crittention. His birthfather was 24 and did construction work. He also served in the military. He was born in 1948. If any birthmother reads this and feels this may be her son, PLEASE CONTACT ME. Even if the birthdate is not exactly right, still contact me. There may have been an error on his birth certificate.
