I have a brother that was born in 1971 and given up for adoption. I have his real birth certificate. Do you know anything about your birthfamily. However I think with all the falsifications and untruthful ways of Ill adoptions we might be better trying to swap photos to see if we look alike. Pease respond

You have his real birth certificate... His 'amended' birth certificate or his 'original' birth certificate? I know my birth parents were not married and that they were local to Bloomington, Illinois. Why was your brother given up for adoption?

Actually it was from cook county hosp. I got his, my sister's and of course I got excited and forgot to get mine. There were several of us taken from the home and put up for adoption.

However I did not find out about this brother until about 10 years ago. Were you adopted as a baby. I was told he was turned over to authorities as an infant. You can always tell by looking at your file date on your birth certificate.

What does the file date on your birth certificate mean?? What if you only have the one from your adopted parents name on it?? Please Help..

The file date is when the new birth certificate is filed with the county. For adoptees, that is the 'amended' birth certificate (with new parents info, etc.). Generally, if your file date is close to your birthdate, then you were obviously adopted at or near birth. If the file date is years later, then you may have been adopted later as child.
