For a Bulgarian adoption.....
How much of a slowdown or shutdown is there during the months of July and August for court dates or embassay appointments? Does everything shut down for about a month or do things just move slowly?

I'm under the impression that it all shuts down except for emergency situations. I could be wrong, but I know nothing happened in our adoption during that time.

It's actually August & 1/2 of September. The European people typically go on "holiday" during this time. Unlike their American counterparts, they actually take extended vacations with their families. Typically, businesses function at a minimal level. Sure wish my business shut down during the summer for 6 weeks.

Yes, we started under the old system. From the time we accepted our referral (7/6/03) to the time we'll pick up it will be 1 year and 1 day. We leave 2 weeks from tomorrow.

When did you get your letter of registration(?) or completion of Dossier under new laws? Are you able to keep the child that was first referred to you? Congratulation on finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
