My wife and I just got married a couple of weeks ago. She has a 10 year old son, and I would like to adopt. The father is not on the birth certificate. What do I need to do in order to get the ball rolling, and if I need to contact a lawyer, does anyone have a good recommendation?

Contact your local court and speak to a clerk that handles adoptions. They can start you in the right direction.
