Looking for some advice!!!!!
Me and my husband reciently picked up his four daughters from foster care in Indiania, they were taken away from their mother on May 9th for neglect. Of couse the children do not understand and do not believe she did anything wrong.
Getting to the point, his oldest child (14) now has a 2 month old baby girl. For many reasons we are attempting to have her place her child up fo adoption. She says she is willing to speak with an adoption agency and I've explained that she would be giving a very deserving family the chance to have a child which they may otherwise never get to have a baby. I've explained that by doing so she will be able to experience the rest of her childhood (the best is still yet to come). We have also explained that if she decides to keep the baby that she will be the one completly responsible for her, which means not being able to hang out at the mall, with friends, or going out to "play" which she has asked to do on many occasions since we brought them back to CO 3 wks ago.
Am I going about this the wrong way? Is there something else I shoud be doing to get her to see that trying to raise a child while still a child herself (age 14) is not what is best for the baby or herself?
I do not want to see her ruin her life. :(
