I am trying to help a grandfather search for his grandson that
was born in 1969 (think it may be late summer). 16 yr old mother gave birth in Richmond Va and child taken to North Carolina
(Charlotte we think) and placed for adoption by Catholic Services.
The state of Va and Catholic services refuses to give any info - not even a birth date. Birthmom is deceased but we know who
birth dad is. If any of this info is familiar please contact
Searchhelp Thank you
Maybe a reach, but...
I am seeking my N-I birth information from CSS, but I was just told a couple of weeks ago that they have no records, even though my mother has papers naming CSS as the agency. I was born in Charlotte NC, according to my birth certificate, but my mom has said that I might have been born in Raliegh, maybe. (Richmond? Raliegh? hmmm...) My date of birth is December 23, 1969, which doesn't fit your late summer time frame, but who knows? If you want to pursue this, leave me a PM including birthweight, if you have it and I do know, and a general description of the father. If we have something here, I will supply my e-mail address so we may communicate further.

My mother found this and I'm replying. There was a couple in N.C. that was planning to adopt me but the couple cancled due to the fact she became pregnant. I was born in Richmond and flown to Roanoke, VA after only being 1 day old! My birth certificate states that I was born in Roanoke but that was done by the Catholic services to disable anyone from finding me. The girl that gave birth was 16 years old as well and in Richmond! Please feel free to call at 252-480-1936. This is my wife's phone number at her office. We currently live in The Outerbanks of N.C. My birthdate is September 3, 1969.
Look forward to your response, Thank You!

It's so exciting to read exchanges like this...good luck! Please be sure to leave an update. I hate being left hanging!
Since that first post, I have gotten a few more bits of information from CSS, but nothing to confirm or deny the city of my birth. Charlotte is still the most likely, however. I am just floating it out there, as my mom (adoptive) said that it was possible that I was born someplace like Raliegh, NC or Richmond, VA. Now, technically, even if I was born in Virginia and moved to North Carolina for adpotion, I would still have a Virginia birth certificate, right? My birth certificate is issued from North Carolina. I know that my mother was in her early 20's, with very fair skin and light hair, and blue eyes. My father was in his later 20's, light skin, dark hair and blue eyes. I know that I was not a c-section birth. I know what my first name at birth was, which I will not share here, but I will answer inquiries if someone thinks they might know the answer. And finally, I'm pretty sure that my birth mother acted alone in her decision to place me for adoption, as information about my father and his family was non-existant. Anyone reading this that thinks they might have more information can read my original post in the North Carolina section, and certainly contact me through this website. Good luck to all in your searches!

Male born 9/3/69 in Richmond, VA; was placed for adoption through Catholic Services in Roanoke, VA; was five days old at time of adoption; no info on natural parents except was told mother too young to keep me and that I originally was to be adopted by a couple from NC; corresponded with Catholic Services in Roanoke, but was not given any information.

I am thrilled to report that with the help of someone able to interpret State birth indexes she found the
birthdate and name so badly needed to go on searching. We did know he was placed for adoption by Catholic Charities but they refused to confirm initially.
I wrote a letter to the adoptee and he has met his
grandfather and several uncles. It is my belief we find
them in God's time only. As a volunteer searcher, this
search from the start had so little information that the
outlook appeared impossible. One of the real reason I
do volunteer searching...it is so very satisfying to suceed. To all, don't give up... it WILL happen.
I have contacted St. Mary's Infant Home to get info about my husbands records the women I spoke with (I called daily ) said there is no record of him being there so there is no Non ID record to give us what can I do now?
