I am searching for my son - He was born in Carrollton, GA on December 16th of 1973. I was 15 at the time and was not given a choice concerning his future; and no one is cooperating with my search. I only want to know that he is okay and maybe what he looks like. I have thought of (and prayed for) him every day since his birth. - Sharon

."Well, this is what I have..." I gave my son up for adoption at birth. I gave birth in Carrolton Georgia , at (Tanner Memorial Hospital) = it was known then as Carol County Hospital. He weighed 7 pounds but i don't know the oz. I think he was adopted by a family with 3 sons one had a mental problem The father was supposed to be an electrical engineer. At least this is what they told me. I'm really not sure of any of it... Is there any information you know?"
At this point i really dont have much to go on. All the documents that i have do not really have reliable info. I was raised in Iowa. My birth certificate states that I was born in Rock Island county which is in Illinois and i am pretty sure that the adoption was handled by bethany homes. I had one sister and a brother who was born later; I am the oldest. it doesn't seem like we have very many similarities. I am not even sure that 12/16 is my real birthday, but judging by some pic i am sure that it was probably at least in Dec. Does any of this sound familar to you?
I am only positive of a few things concerning the adoption. I know that I had my son at Carrolton County Hospital, in the p.m.. They said he had brown hair, and blue eyes. He was over seven pounds but less than eight, and he was healthy. My son has to have a positive blood type because I received a Rogam shot following my delivery. I am also sure that the adoption was private, not handled through a home. During my pregnancy I stayed with Hilda and Eric Avery (in Whitesburg, GA), who arranged the adoption.
Aside from that, I have come learn that Georgia, as well as Florida, are the worst two states for changing the birth information to fit the adopive parents' situations. This includes the county, state, and date on the birth certificate.
I hope some of this helps, but we don't seem to have many similarities. Maybe you could ask your a.parents if they know Eric Avery. That might give us something to go on. Either way, good luck, and if I can help just let me know.
Thanks for the info and I wish you the best of luck in your search. If I come across anything that is of interest to you I will let you know. Do you know of any websites where I could get a solid understanding of what the laws are with adoption in my state. I do have an original birth cert. But it has obviously been changed. Can they change my actual birthdate?
Thanks,
Mike
