Hi all.
My husband and I are new to foster care. We went through all of our training and were told we would get our license in about 3 weeks. Well, we were called by our CW and told that they had a sibling group (boy 9 mths and girl 3 yrs) that needed a home. Needless to say we were soooooo excited!!! I made the mistake though in telling all of my family and friends...because two days later we were called back and told that they were going to have the kids go with some relatives. What a rollercoaster that was. But we only want what is best for those kids. It really did break our hearts though. We were so excited because our CW pushed our license through and we got our license that same week. We live in Michigan and are wondering how long it normally takes...if there can be something "normal". Our age group is 0-3.
We would be interested in hearing some stories from other foster parents!

Hi,
I use to License FH in AZ. for two years. I now teach school and we are Fost/adopt parents working on our license. A 0-3 placement can be take awhile.
You can make the odds better if you are willing to accept children that are not only one race. There are wonderful multi-race children waiting for homes. You may have already thought about this. Just a thought.
Since your open to siblings that also will help make a placement happen quicker. Time will tell. Hang in there.
I wish you all the luck and God Bless,
Kris in AZ.:)

Kris,
Thank you so much for your reply. Yes my husband and I are open to children of all races. A child is a child no matter what the color of their skin is. We have so much love in our hearts and want to give it to others. We know that when the time is right God will have a little one for us to love.
