International Adoption Agencies -- recommendations?

We are in the process of adopting from Korea through Love the Children. They are located in Quakertown, PA. I did a lot of research to narrow it down to them. They don't do a lot of hand holding, but they are very efficient and the wait is less than a year if you meet Korea's requirements. Also, there is no travel required. They escort the bebies to JFK airport. Friends of ours have adopted through LTC twice and are very happy. Good luck whatever you decide. Laura

We have adopted from Guatemala four times and just completed a domestic adoption. Adoptions from the Heart completed all of our homestudies, but for various reasons, we did not use them to complete our adoptions. They were absolutely wonderful in helping us with our hs, and have been nothing but supportive and encouraging! We have worked with two different agencies, as well as worked indepedently. The most important decision you make in your adoption journey will be the agency you choose. I suggest choosing your country first and then choosing the agency based on their experience with the country. The agencies I would recommend for Guat would be completely different from the agencies for China! There are also several agencies to stay far away from! Unfortunately, there are unethical, dishonest agencies out there! DO NOT choose an agency based on their location! An out of state agency can be just as, if not more, supportive as a local agency! Your decision should be based on who has the most experience and the most knowledge with the particular country's program. In Guatemala, it really depends on the lawyers/facillitators the agency is working with! This and and prayer, will make or break your adoption journey!
