Hello I am the wife of an adoptee. Just recently my husband gave me the OK to search for his birth parents (since we had our first child.) I am just new at this and I haven't had much luck. My husband was Born in St.John's NF Canada at St.Claire's Hospital (we think). 01/28/1975 named Joshua Patrick ___ (no last name). We also know his mother and father were very young and my husband was a preemie. This is all we know.
I have contacted Post adoption services in St.John's and registered for a search and non identifying info but there is a long wait.. about 5 years for a search, 2 years for non identifying info. I called post adoption services the other day and talked to a Lady named Vicky Walsh who told me that no one has registered for my husbands birth family...my heart sank when I heard this...I wish they could know how wonderful he is...why don't they want to meet him?.
But there is light at the end of the tunnel, a new law was just passed in Newfoundland that gives adoptee's and birth family access to original birth records...so unless his birth mother has filled a no contact or no disclosure vito we should get some promising info very soon (they told me about 2 months wait...and that is a blink of an eye when you think about all the waiting with post adoption services). Of course there is a fee of $50.00 so we have sent a cheque and an application. What I am wondering at this point is if anyone knows of a search angel that would help us. We will have all the info very soon. We don't have much money. If someone thinks they could help or know someone who can, please reply.
