WE FIRST FILED FOR ADOPTION IN 1997 IN TENNESSEE. JUDGE SAID CATCH UP ON YOUR CHILD SUPPORT AND RESTART YOUR VISITAIONS. MY EX DID THIS FOR A FEW MONTHS AND STOPPED. NO CONTACT FOR 4 1/2 YEARS. WE FILED AGAIN AND WON TODAY! EX DID NOT BOTHER TO SHOW UP! OWES OVER 16,000 IN BACK CHILD SUPPORT BUT IM HAPPY WITH THE ADOPTION. MY ADVISE IS TO NOT GIVE UP, ITS HARD, BUT THE RIGHT SIDE WILL ALWAYS WIN! GET A GOOD LAWYER AND KEEP GREAT RECORDS OF EVERYTHING. IT COST ME $500.00 AND I WOULD HAVE PAID A MILLION!!KEEP ON TRYING!!

Congratulations!!!!!
My hubby adopted my daughter this year (finalized in February). We are currently starting the adoption process on my oldest son. His father has been in and out (out more) in son's life for the past 6 years. In for a few months, gone for 2 years, in for 10 months, gone for a year and a half, etc. We have hunted him down and offered him ways out (ie: adoption) but he refused. "Can't give up on my son." (What did he think he was doing?) Anyways, this last time it was his idea (the adoption) to avoid felony contempt charges as well as advoiding going before the Judge and having Judge hear that he commited purjury in his Court a year straight.
I'm also in TN...my ex owes over 33,000 in back c.s. if me and my boyfriend marry, he wants to adopt my 2 oldest....what happens w/ the back c.s.? Does ex still obligated to pay?
First of all, congrats. That is a wonderful thing. Secondly, I would greatly appreciate being able to email you and ask a few questions. I too am in Tennessee and fixing to wage this same war. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks...and again, congratulations!!!
