Hi all -- Just wanted to add this search resource for those for whom library records might be of help (I recommend libraries for back issues of periodicals/ newsrags but I'm sure they hold many more treasures than I know of)
area code 504
East Bank Regional: 838-1100
Reference: 838-1111 (This is the # to call for old papers, etc.)
This is the main branch of the jefferson Parish (like a county) library system.
Branches:
Harahan: 736-8745
Lakeshore 838-4375
North Kenner 736-8730
Old Metairie 838-4353
Good luck!

Hello!
I am a female born 11-9-64 in New Orleans, LA. I was born at the Methodist Home Hospital. I was wondering if any information would be available to me through the library. If so, what? I appreciate any help you can offer.
Thanks!

Hi, sorry for a late response but I really didnt have any answer. But I found someone who has more answers than I...
If you live in the same town or nearby, I would start with atrip to the main town library. Obituaries are easy to look up. Start back about thiry years or so and look up every year with the last name that you have. She may be listed as a relative in one of them. You may even get lucky and discover her married name and where is she is currently living. Also, try the POLK directories. They list the last names of people and there address for the city. They often also list children's names, number of people living in the home, and what the head of the household does for a living. You may find your bio-grandparents. Don't forget to check highschool yearbooks as well. Most libraries have them in their collection.
