I'm just wondering if anyone has heard anything lately. It's been awfully quiet here for a while. ;)
I wrote our attorney a few days ago to ask if ANYTHING is happening in Panama, and she replied tonight saying that no, nothing is happening. (Argh.) She's "hoping" the irresponsibilities towards Panama's children don't continue with the new government. (Not likely, thank goodness.)
In the meantime, the 5th and supposedly final TPR hearing for the two sibs we found in July 2003 is next Thursday. But our attorney warned us that the judge still has 10 days after the "audencia" to make her ruling. Ugh....

Hello Everyone...way to quiet!
Our agency told us last week that they have 2 families in the final stages of TPR (Lauri and Tanya I hope that's you;) ) and it's about 30 to 60 days from the TPR being finalized until the family's court date for the adoption. They expect the new govt will bring positive changes but it will take a while to implement.
Sooooooooo...we continue to wait.......
Rebecca, we will all be crossing our fingers (and toes) for you next Thursday!

I haven't posted for a while either, but we are moving foward. We are still waiting for a travel date, but the judge told our attorney everything was "ok" we just needed one final document from another official stating this adoption was in Rosa's best interest (Prosecutor of Minors or something like that). TPR has been done for almost 6 weeks . He said it should only be a "few more days" until he gives us a date to travel. So we will see. I am kind of a worker bee when I am nervous, so lots of heavy chores are being done around my house lately. He did say it took over 20 days just for the DNA office to send my authenticated dossier to him, so they are absolutely moving slowly. I hope with this new government everyone begins to make progress. My attorney has been very frustrated with this "interim" version of DNA. We are not with an agency , so sometimes it absolutely feels like we are winging it. As soon as we get that date, I will be calling the embassy to make sure I know everything I need to. This board has been a wealth of knowledge in that dept.
Wow, that's great news...you are so close! Do you know how long it took to get the TPR completed or was that done when you received the referral?
We are also still waiting for the final ruling on the TPR. My understanding is that we are waiting for the court to produce the final documents for the TPR. Then hopefully our court date will be set. I now preface everything with 'my understanding' because so many things I have understood turned out to be wrong. As soon as I know more, I will definitely let you all know.
TPR: For our TPR We received our referral last August and TPR is still not done. However, I think I read on the site that TPR cannot be started until the infant is 6 months old unless there are other circumstances (illness, prematurity, etc). Giving them the benefit of following that process and not starting until he was 6 months old, it has taken 7 months and is still not complete. Don't know when they actually began the documentation.
Pray, Cry, Laugh, and hang in there! All are necessary.
Dossier turned into DNA 7/11/03

TPR scheduled 3/04
First trip 3/04
TPR court date 6/04
Awaiting final court sign-off on TPR and then our court date
