Hi,
After 5 yrs of infertility my husband and I have decided to adopt. I have looked into several options. One agency in Oakland, CA seems very apealing based on what they have told me over the phone. Does anyone have any information (good or bad) on "Adopt A Special Kid" (AASK)? Their based in Oakland.
My husband and I are hoping to adopt a younger child (4 or younger) or two.
We have been scheduled to attend their orientation and have an interview scheduled as well but it's not till next month. I'm looking to get as much info as possible before then. We're very excited now that we have decided to adopt. I wish the orientation was sooner! I only hope we are accepted.
We're still looking into infant adoption and other adoption agency's but honestly I don't know if we can afford what some agency's charge.
Any info on AASK or any other agency's in No. Cal (were in Sacramento) is appriciated.
Thanks,
Christina and Mike

You need to choose an agency that "fits" - that you are comfortable with.
My husband and I have been working for some time with another Oakland agency - Family Builders by Adoption. We feel that they are wonderful. We could not be more comfortable with their service and understanding or happier with how things are going.
Contact information for Family Builders in Oakland can be found at www.familybuilders.com or www.cakidsconnection.com
Good luck! :)

Christina,I am sending you a PM with the name of the agency that we used. They work with the whole State of Ca. and have a office in Sacramento. We adopted 2 children directly from them and they did our HS for the other 3.They are very reasonable and you couldn't ask for a better agency to work with.
Mary
Thank you both for the info.
Katey- I checked out the website you listed and unfortunately according to the site Sacramento county is not one of the counties they work with. Please let me know if this is not correct info.
Mary- thank you for the contact info. I will be calling them first thing tomorrow!
If anyone else has any more info or info on AASK please let me know.
Thank you,
Christina
